According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (ANN), the Israeli bombings caused the collapse of a police station, a supermarket, and other buildings in the Dahye suburb. This area is considered by Israeli forces to be a stronghold of the Lebanese resistance. The Israeli air force used vacuum bombs and bunker-buster bombs, which also hit other locations on the outskirts of Beirut.
Israeli media reported that one of the targets of the Israeli attacks was cleric Hashem Safi al-Din. Currently, he is seen as the probable successor to Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed a week ago in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut.
Among the targets of the attacks was also the new Hezbollah bunker used by high-ranking officials of the Lebanese resistance.
Since last week, the Dahye suburb has been the victim of Israeli bombings. So far, Israel’s attacks on Lebanon have killed nearly 2,000 people and forced 1.2 million to flee their homes, mainly in the south and east of the country.
Despite incessant Israeli attacks, Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araqchi landed in Beirut on Friday. He is the first high-ranking Iranian official to visit Lebanon since Nasrallah’s assassination.
“Our delegation, led by FM Araghchi and accompanied by two members of Parliament and Head of Iran’s Red Cresent Society, will meet with Lebenese high-level officials shortly. A package of 10 tons of foodstuff and medicine will also be delivered as part of our humanitarian assistance to Lebenon,” FM Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei informed.
“Iran’s is steadfast in its solidarity with brave people of Lebenon. The whole region should recognize the critical situation Lebanon faces and its dire implications for the future of our nations,” he added.
